OHT MAINTENANCE 3/26/16

We begin here......

Chancel Spur begins on the other side of
this gate.....

....and so do we.....

This is where Chancel Spur meets the OHT

It wasn't long before we ran into this!

It was a group effort....

We would take it down....limb by limb.

There were a few dead leaners too!

Mile Marker 119
Only 3 more miles to go....

Whoops, the next 3 miles might be looooong!

This takes manpower and a new saw!

Hugh tackled it from the other end....

Done, where is the next one?

Ah, there it is!

Lila our supervisor!

It is going to be a long day....

Mile Marker 120

Water break.....

We left a snail in an old jar to check on it later!

We would leave the big one for a chainsaw!

Climb overs on the ground were left....

Our crossing at Elizabeth Creek....

If you are wondering why Mike is wading the
creek......well, he had already fallen in it, so
he was already wet.  Way to go Mike!

We picked up a backpacker during lunch....
there were a lot of folks out hiking today.

Mile Marker 121...getting closer!

Lila was looking for something to do.....
it had been awhile since we cut anything.

Spoke to quick.....!!!!

Not looking for anything else to do today, OK?

....and now look!

....and even more!

We were still smiling at this point.....
we knew we were almost to the end.

This is Gary Hodges favorite spot...
his goal was to be able to crawl
through it......

So we did it, in memory of him.
This is Glen....

This is John....

This is Lila....

This is Hugh....

....and this is Danny.
(May be my last time?)

Look what we found in this cave.....

Someone left their tent.....

Mile Marker 122...1-mile to go.

...but more work to do first.

This doesn't look good.....?
Where's the chainsaw?

Made it to the old bridge on FR 1209

....and made it back to Hugh's vehicle and our ride
out and back to Chancel.

....and now I have to go get my truck...
We are done so I don't mind getting wet.

Crossing Buck Branch

We met Wade Colwell......
not sure how he got his car across???
But he did, after moving a few boulders.

It was a good day....got a lot done....
and now home to rest!
