HEDGES HOMESTEAD

This is a good way to start a hike....
except for Heidi.

James and Cady were already waiting for us at
Boxley Trailhead

We waited in the sunshine......it was 34°!

Ready to start our Hedges Hike at the old Whiteley Homesite
at the Boxley Trailhead

Headed uphill to the Whiteley Cemetery

The old Whiteley Cemetery

...and here comes a bunch of tourist...!

A lot of old graves

It wasn't long before we came to the old
Whiteley Schoolhouse & Church

If Heidi was really on TV, I would find the knob
to turn her off......lol

Old cellar next to school

Our last hill climb....we hope!

Nice "booty" Chris?

I am not sure Heidi is having a good day or not?

The Hedges birdhouse is still there.....

The old shed still stands....

Not even an advertiser in the mailbox....

A grand fireplace, indeed.

This is a picture of the Hedges Home dated Mar. 1986
taken by Randy Templeton.

.....and yet another.

Yes, they had electricity.....

Our "wild" ladies.....

Snake skin.......so beware.....

This had to be an amazing home....?

Front steps

The other remaining shed

The old barn on the river.....

Not many more years left?

The Hedges Hole aka The Pickle Hole

A good place for lunch...

Some chose the high ground....

....and did a little yoga for us....

An eagle in our mist......

The sun felt good....

A nice rock-stack by David

Steve, guarding the troops

Lunch over, time to head down the river

John would be hard to lose today!

We made our way across the river, onto an dry
land avoiding the steep riverbank...

....but we did have to cross back, no problem today.

It is amazing what you will find in the middle of nowhere!

Our last ravine to climb out of....

Can't keep the boys out of the trees!

Made it out of the woods....now for the best part!

Open pasture....very nice.

Made it back to the parking area.

....and all of Heidi's findings.

It was a lazy day for the elk in Boxley Valley.

Some enjoyed the shade, others the sun!

These were snuggling.....

Some just ignor everyone!

Now, over to eat......again!

Gloria got her feelings hurt....?
We locked her in the truck....!!!!!

Volcano Burger....Daves favorite!

My favorite.....BBQ Burger and fresh cut frys....

They stuck us in the back room.......we were making too
much noice and acting up.....no way!

We tried to close them down.....didn't work! lol
