SYLAMORE CREEK / FOLK FESTIVAL 4/21/07

Once again, NOT for hiking!

So we decide to shuttle using ONE vehicle

...and I think it is going to work, yea!

At Blanchard Trailhead

and Finally, we are off and hiking

4.7 miles to go

Blanchard to Allison

Several bridges along the way

...and some neat bluffs

The water felt good to our feet

Wouldn't it be easier to go under?

A little bit of erosion on the trail

Searching for a place to eat lunch

And there is was

It was good to just sit down

Some chose to eat in the woods

Where is Hunter? Dee had his yogurt.

Brenda

A nice bluff to eat on

Judy behind the limbs

It must have been an exhausting hike so far?

...or could it just be the warm sunshine?

A very nice day, indeed.

..but off we must go

A shallow creek crossing

Danny

Brenda

Cool water on "hot" feet

Some strange rock formations?

...and yet another

Brandy and Dustin

and Brandy and Dustin

We should have eaten lunch here

Dee and Chris

What could Cheyenne be looking for?

Ah, frogs someday

Selina takes a break

Not sure what Dustin and Brandy thought about all these "old" folks?

Judy (Dry)

Wildflower on solid rock!

Looked like a concrete slab out here in the middle of nowhere

The beginning of some neat bluffs and grottos

Out of the sun

...under a hugh grotto

Dee and Chris

Pam

Cheyenne after a little shower

Dorothy

Along the trail to Allison

The bluffs were quite impressive

...as you can see

The water felt cool, on a hot day like today

Pam checking the water out

This fall ought to be in one of Tim Ernst' books

..so get ready for a big creek crossing

Preparing ourselves for the crossing

On our way down to Sylamore Creek

It looked cool

Pam did recover

What a nice little family

Things seemed to be going all right, so far.

but, Judy had other ideas

and she sprang up like lightening, but wet all over!

Unless it is your spouse

It is not nice to point

Debora

Brenda and Karen thinking it over

Knee deep so far

No big deal!

We all made it across

so, now to find our vehicles

and we make it all safe and sound, and some a little wet!

Dee is changing her clothes behind the blanket

and Chris takes a little peek!

Packing up and ready for supper and the Folk Festival

Arriving in Mt. View

The Court House grounds were busy

Music everywhere

How about a motorized "ice chest"?

...and cloggers

...and Dee and Chris

Instruments of all kinds

..even a few saws

...but it was time to eat supper now

We met Darwin and Connie and their friends at the restaurant

Carol and Debora

Now, what do I want to eat?

Our new friend Sheila, from Alaska

Bill and Gerry

And this is Sheila "resting"

Bob thinks something is funny.  Could it be Connie standing next to him?

..and so, after a fine hike and a great meal....

We have to say. good bye.  It was a great day.
