BUFFALO RIVER CANOE TRIP 5/13/06

The "raging" Buffalo and Deena to the rescue

Unloading our stuff

...and waiting our turn

The river was a little quiet today!

....yeah, SURE!

...but finally we hit the river

...and scoped out our course

Deena and Joseph from Memphis

The river was so crowded, folks had to stand on the banks and wait their turn.

Tony and Chuck

Tony taking charge

... and Chuck not liking his landing!

We had seven in our fleet

...but moments later there were hundreds

So we hurried to up to California Point to eat our lunch and enjoy the warmth of the sun.  It felt good.

It was a very nice view

...and we enjoyed ever minute of it

Looking down river at our next quest

We lost ourselves amongst the rocks

Billy Bob

"Mr. Weekend"  and his new outfit

Kids!

Kids!

Kids!

We are hikers, so we went hiking

...through the tall grass

and found some old buildings

..and more tall grass

...and more old buildings

and of course, it was "Group Picture" time

Returning to our spot, after our hike

and of course, "Group Picture" time again

We re-entered the river

Some have to have help finding a place to park

.. and docked at Hemmed-In Hollow

It was a bit crowded too!

...and there it was...Hemmed-In Hollow Falls

Quite a place, indeed!

The height of the falls was something else

The water here was actually warm

The end of another great hike to the falls and now...

..as you can "sorta" see

...it was time to hit the river.  There was not time for pictures from here to Kyles Landing.  The river was swift and the rapids were a little testy, so I kept my camera safe and sound.

Another great float and all were safe and sound and glad we make it to the shore.  Some got wet.  Guess who?

Loading up our gear.
