Arriving at Devil's Den Visitors Center

Our Park Interpreter Rebekah Spurlock

Too bad!  But we gotta save those bats!

Bean joined us once again.

You can read about the bats by clicking here.

Not all here, but we had twenty-one.

On to the Bat Cave...Robin!

Bat house.  The one on the right, held 80 momma bats and 80 babies!

Really like Celeste's hiking cap!

Could that be something from Texas? An "orange T".

Rebekah was a great Interpreter...we even learned a few things about the park and about the history and about the bats.

Actually it is another bat house.

We were now on our climb up to one of the "closed" caves.

I like Terry and Lynn's new shirts.  We have branched out to new colors!

Some of the rocks laid by the CCC years ago.

Entrance of one of the caves

Rebekah tells us a story....while Cheyenne listens, at least I think she was listening!

Rebekah showing us how the upper rock layers fell....

.....and so the rocks fell....but not with a smile like Rebekah's

That's one mighty big bat she pulled out of her pocket.

We listened.

The iron gate means.....STAY OUT!

Chris, Char and Mr. Bean

Our first look into one of the crevices

We would go down in a crevice and up out of the crevice many times.

This is Dead Horse Crevice

Mary

Chris

....and up and out.

Ron

Damien and Celeste heading down

We were not suppose to take our poles with us...we would need both hands to get down and out....and it took both hands.

Gary, way up there!

Us way down there!

These two rock wedges were the only thing holding up this "future" rock slide.

We had to be quiet in this area so we wouldn't wake up the bats...really!

The sign says a $50,000 fine for trying to enter into this cave...actually by Federal Law now it was $100,000!  No one wanted to go in...duh!

Rebekah was always the last one out and she helped everyone....she made me look bad!  Very bad!

So after many "secret" crevices, great history lessons and some magnificent rock formations, it was time to head back and find a place to eat lunch.

So back to the Visitors Center to get our lunches and head for the lake.

The Graces' make a Birthday Cake for Celeste, and it sure was good!

Happy Birthday Celeste.  The cake was a surprise.

The Lake Dam and Dan

CCC Statue and Cheyenne

Ah, we hated this.

On to our next hike....we lost a few folks by this point.

But liked this.

Heading up to Yellow Rock

I need to make one of these.

Our first view off of Yellow Rock

The ledge at Yellow Rock reminded me of Hawksbill Crag

So now it was time to head back down after spending a great day at Devil's Den State Park.  You should have seen all the dogwoods....thousands....and all in bloom, just for us!

Thanks to Damien and Celeste for putting together this hike.  It was a beautiful day, lots to see, enjoyable company, what can I say.  You should have been there with us.

Again, Happy Birthday Celeste.
