LAKE SYLVIA / FLATSIDE PINNACLE 2/27/10

Lake Sylvia Trailhead

Heading to the lake

The lake was closed ...but did we notice?

But first the lake trail

Friends Spencer and Josie

We would be hiking a part of the OT

Lake Sylvia

The Dam

Jimmy was the leader ...for about 2 minutes!

Making our way around the lake

Our official rock climbers

Just above the dam

This was a dead end trail to the dam

...so we let everyone take a look before we headed uphill

...but tie your shoes first!

A view down on the lake

Judy and Gloria

We found lots of signs, most you could not  read!

We were strung out pretty good, so we waited?

A nice looking sign?

This one looks better

Bill always takes the more exciting way

More waiting

This is Yuko's tenth time to tie her shoes!!!!!

Most took the bridge across the creek

...but not the girls!

We are 188 miles from the beginning of the OT, and are we tired!

Vic points out a funny looking tree

More signs, so folks won't get lost

Ah, almost back to the parking lot.

We made it!

So time for lunch

The day was perfect

and the lunch was so, so!

Ron and David

Mike and Gary

It was nice to rest before we head up to the pinnacle

0.2 miles ....wee!

A nice informative sign, but didn't have time to read it all

Spencer and Josie, half way up the mountain

It was the girls once again that took the lead, of course!

We would each take our turn doing this!

What, no fires allowed!

Still climbing

Guess who made it to the top, first?

Our view West

Our view South

Our view of "Flat Stanley" ... and Gloria

Nicer in the spring and fall, but we'll take it like it is today.

Yuko and Mike

Our view Southwest

Our new friend Tiffany, via California, via Conway.

Our view North

Our view of US

I thought we had gone to the top, but Josie fines and even higher point.

One last look, kind of windy on top today.

Vic,  enjoying the geology up here.

Come on, it is time to go.

This is unusual for us to be going "down" at the end of a hike!

It seemed to take longer going down.

A total of 0.4 miles ....man are we bushed!
