BUFFALO RIVER TRAIL (STEELE CR EAST) 4/10/10

We made our own parking lot at Steele Creek

....which had a nice background

....and this is us at the trailhead

... and off we go

First part was UPHILL! So we did this a lot!

How trees grow on solid rock .... we don't know.

Crossing Steele Creek

Harrison shows us how to do it the "tricky" way.

... and so we followed

We stop for our first view of the Buffalo River at Steele Creek

The Buffalo River and Roark Bluff

Mary decides "two poles" are better than one.

Views of the Buffalo River and Steele Creek Campgrounds

Us at the first overlook

Us looking from the first overlook. That's what you do at overlooks!

It wasn't long before the canoes showed up.

Us on the BRT

David in one of the many pits in the area?????

The BRT

It was wildflower day on the BRT.... they were everywhere.

Our first sighting of Big Bluff (Goats Bluff)

This would be a good place for lunch, so .......

We have hiker there before....way cool!

Pam and Terrence

Our "barefoot hiker" Micki

"A Mystery"

Another view of Big Bluff (Goats Bluff)

This would be our turn around point

A "downed" Indian Tree Sign with bees!

At least it was downhill on the way back out!

Some needed help, some didn't!

We rested at Steele Creek (Yuko probably needed to tie her boots anyway.)

Tristan, Gloria and Terrence

Mary on the same log again. She only used one pole this time ... she was experienced now!

Carol took to the water, the safe way to cross.

It was a beautiful day to be out

Gary (We may have to make a statue of that pose!)

Our "barefoot hiker" with sandals.  Hey, what's up?

You can't see it but the trail was lined with Phlox

Cathy came back, yea!

No horses, but they would have been nice to ride up the hills on.

Back at the water pump

Did I mention it was a beautiful day?

Our vehicles were still at our own parking lot.  That was GOOD!
